You're in for a really exciting day. Here's what it will look like.
What should I wear?
You should wear comfortable clothing when you come to
race (casual pants are recommended). We provide racing
suits, gloves, helmet and neck braces. Open-toe shoes
are not permitted while racing.
Introduction:
The instructor will discuss safety procedures including
dos and don'ts, safety flags, kart basics and track layout.
Track walk:
The instructor will take your group for a walk around
the track discussing in detail the proper driving line
for each corner, braking and acceleration points, and what to expect in the handling of your kart.
Driving session No. 1:
This session is specifically designed to familiarize you with the track layout and furnish
you an opportunity to get a feel for your kart. You will understand how quickly your kart will respond
to the input you give it and you will begin to memorize the turns of the track.
Once you get the hang of it, the speed will start to come to you automatically!
Discussion:
Your instructor will ask you for feedback on your first
driving session and answer any questions you have. This
is a good time to ask yourself if you feel comfortable
in your kart and to ask for any adjustments. If you feel
unclear about anything up to this point, don't hesitate
to ask!
Driving lesson No. 2:
Your instructor will be at different corners throughout
the session making sure that your driving the correct
racing line. This is a good time to practice keeping your
eyes on the track and at the same time on your instructor
who is working on perfecting your skills.
Discussion:
Your instructor will individually critique your driving
style (yes, he will be taking notes out there!). Listen
carefully to what he has to say. Applying what your instructor
points out to you is key to honing your skills in the
shortest amount of time.
Driving lesson No. 3:
This session is called Lead and Follow. Your instructor
will be driving a kart on the track with you and will
point to you to follow directly behind him. He will then
establish a pace in which you will be able to keep up
with him, learning the proper driving line. Then he will
motion you to lead the way. He will see up close what
you have learned and will tell you how you can go faster,
corner-by-corner!
Lunch break:
Catering will beavailable if arrangements are made in
advance.
Driving session No. 4:
Once again, your instructor will be on the track with
you performing controlled racing situations. Hope you
have good peripheral vision for this exhilarating experience!
Oh, and don't forget to hold your racing line. You will
experience the thrill of real "wheel to wheel" racing
as you "dice" with your instructor. This session is designed
to help students develope their "race-craft" skills.
Discussion:
The instructor will answer any further questions you have.
As you begin going faster, you'll want to know about all
the tricks of the trade. Your instructors have the keys
to the secrets... and they're anxious to share them with
you!
Driving lesson No. 5:
Things will really be coming together now! You'll feel
a lot more confident with your skills and you'll be going
faster than ever before. This is when you put together
everything you have learned. Your instructor will be watching
carefully to see that you are driving smoothly and consistently...
qualities of all great racers.
Discussion:
Your last chance of the day to ask your instructor any
questions, so ask away!
Driving session No. 6:
This is it! Last session of the day. You will have been
driving a lot and learning a lot. Your instructor will
make sure that you are putting together your best laps
of the day!
Graduation:
Upon the successful completion of the class, you'll be awarded your graduation certificate.
Hang it on your wall with pride.
Congratulations!
